Diabetes mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic disease worldwide.

Especially the number of type 2 diabetics increases dramatically. Due to modern lifestyle and lots of fat food the risk of getting diabetes is much higher.

Speaking only for Austria there are about 85.000 insulin-dependent and 500.000 non-insulin dependent diabetics. The authorities estimate that the absolute number should be about the double because many people simply do not know about their diabetes. Without prevention programs the number of diabetics will increase from 194 millions to 333 millions worldwide.

Typical symptoms of diabetes are:

  • Anadipsia
  • Increased urination
  • Tiredness, weariness
  • Dramatic weight loss
  • Skin inflammation, pruritus
  • Bad wound-healing
